Conservative pundit says Trump and Saudi Arabia may be behind blackmail of The Washington Post

President Donald Trump and Saudi Arabia may have been behind the alleged blackmail scheme against The Washington Post and owner Jeff Bezos, a leading conservative suggested on Saturday.

Bill Kristol, the founder and former editor-in-chief of the now-defunct magazine The Weekly Standard, laid out his case on Twitter.

Kristol’s theory followed a threatening post made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

“We warn against any attempt to link Khashoggi’s crime to our leadership,” the Kingdom warned.

Intelligence agencies believe Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman directed the assassination of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

“Who’s attempted such a link? The Post,” Kristol noted.

“Who owns the Post? Bezos,” he continued.

“Who had the ability to hack Bezos and a connection to AMI? The Saudis,” he said.

“Who’s conspired with both the Saudis and AMI and hates Bezos? Trump,” he concluded.
